Ján Murín was a Greek Catholic priest, theologian, scout, high school teacher, and catechist. He founded the Society of St. Cyril and Methodius in Michalovce. Murín was persecuted by the communist regime and became a prominent figure during the Prague Spring, advocating for the revival of the Greek Catholic Church. He played a crucial role in achieving the legalization of the Greek Catholic Church. However, he was excluded from public life after the normalization period began in 1970.
