Jan Niklaas Veldman was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II, born on December 25, 1912, in Veenoord, municipality of Sleen. He participated in the raid on the House of Detention I in Amsterdam on July 14-15, 1944. Tragically, he was executed on July 16, 1944, in the dunes near Overveen, alongside other resistance fighters. Most victims were buried in a mass grave in the dunes, but Veldman was later reburied at the Eerebegraafplaats Bloemendaal.
