Jan Pieterwas, also known as Siekiera, was a Polish colonel in the Citizens' Militia, serving as the provincial commander in Koszalin from 1963 to 1975 and in Słupsk from 1975 to 1980. He joined the Polish Workers' Party in 1942 and participated in various military formations during World War II. Pieterwas held several roles within the Citizens' Militia after the war, rising through the ranks to hold significant command posts. He was active in the Polish United Workers' Party and received numerous awards for his service, including the Officer's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland.
