Jan Schrooten (1937-2020) was a Flemish canon and honorary chapel master of the Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp. He chaired Pueri Cantores Vlaanderen, representing Belgian bishops at the CEDAME. Educated at Sint-Lievenscollege and the Antwerp Conservatory, he was ordained in 1961. From 1968 to 2000, he led the Antwerp Cathedral Choir and later became a professor of sacred music. In 1983 he was appointed canon, and he initiated a girls' choir in 1985, enhancing youth music at the cathedral. He contributed to the Flemish hymn book Zingt Jubilate.
