He served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2002, and as a councilor of the Karlovy Vary Region from 2012 to 2016. From 2002 to 2010, he was the mayor of Cheb and is affiliated with the Civic Democratic Party (ODS).
