Jan Wojciech Kiwerski, known by his nom de guerre Oliwa, was a Polish Army colonel and commandant of the 27th Home Army Infantry Division. Born on May 23, 1910, in Kraków, he became an orphan at 14 and graduated with honors from Military Cadet School. He rose through the ranks during his military service, playing a key role in the Polish resistance during World War II. Killed in action on April 18, 1944, Kiwerski was posthumously promoted to Brigadier General and awarded the Virtuti Militari and Cross of Valour.
