Janet Marie DiFiore is an American lawyer and former judge, who served as the Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals from January 21, 2016, until her resignation on August 31, 2022. Born in Mount Vernon, New York, she graduated from Long Island University and St. John's University School of Law. DiFiore worked at a law firm and the Westchester District Attorney's Office before becoming a judge in Westchester County and later a justice of the New York Supreme Court. She was the district attorney of Westchester County from 2006 until her nomination to the Court of Appeals.
