Janet Ertel, born Janet Buschmann on September 21, 1913, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, was an American singer and founding member of the a cappella girl group The Chordettes. She married Archie Bleyer in 1954. Her daughter, Jacqueline, born in 1940 to John Ertel, married Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers. Janet continued to perform with The Chordettes until the group's disbandment. She passed away from long-term cancer on November 22, 1988, in her hometown.
