Janez Zorko is a Slovenian sculptor and mountain climber, born in 1937 in Podgorje ob Sevnični. He studied at an art school in Ljubljana from 1957 to 1959 and later moved to Paris, where he taught Materials and Technology at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne from 1974 to 1976. Zorko is known for creating both figurative and abstract sculptures using marble, metal, and wood. He is also an enthusiastic mountain climber, having accomplished numerous climbing ascents, both alone and with partners.
