Janica Kostelić is a retired Croatian skier born on January 5, 1982, in Zagreb, Yugoslavia (now Croatia). She is the only woman to have won four gold medals at the Olympic Games (in 2002 and 2006) and the only woman to win three gold medals in a single Olympics (in 2002). Kostelić was the overall World Cup champion in 2001, 2003, and 2006, and in January 2006, she became the third woman in World Cup history to win at least one race in all five disciplines. She holds the record for the most points in a season.
