Jānis Šmēdiņš is a Latvian beach volleyball player, born on July 31, 1987, in Kuldīga, Latvia. He has partnered with Mārtiņš Pļaviņš since 2008, with whom he won a bronze medal at the 2010 European Beach Volleyball Championships in Berlin and another bronze at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Šmēdiņš has been honored with the title of Officer of the Order of the Three Stars, recognizing his contributions to the sport and his accomplishments in international competitions.
