János Körner is a Hungarian mathematician born in 1946, specializing in information theory and combinatorics. He studied mathematics at Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest, graduating in 1970, and worked at the Alfred Renyi Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences until 1992. He has held positions at Bell Laboratories and Télécom ParisTech, and has been a professor at La Sapienza University in Rome since 1993. He is known for his collaboration on the Blowing Up Lemma and received the Claude E. Shannon Award in 2014.
