János Martinek is a former Hungarian modern pentathlete, born on May 23, 1965, in Budapest. He achieved notable success at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, winning gold medals in both individual and team events. He was a Hungarian team champion in 1986 and an individual champion in 1987. Martinek also secured titles at the 1987 World Championships and defended his team title in 1989. He earned an additional world title in a relay competition in 1994 and won a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics. Throughout his career, he secured a total of nine Hungarian championship titles.
