János Szerednyei was a Hungarian Catholic priest born on May 26, 1920, in Szerencs, Hungary. In 1945, he voluntarily joined a group of his parishioners from Tarcal who were set to be deported to the USSR. Tragically, he died on July 26, 1948, while working in a coal mine, when he was involved in an accident. His commitment to his parishioners and his sacrifice during a difficult historical period mark his legacy.
