Jarmo Viinanen is a Finnish diplomat born on February 23, 1959, in Imatra. He served as the ambassador to Sweden until 2016 and was the President of the UNICEF Executive Board in 2013. Viinanen held several key positions within the Finnish Foreign Ministry, including Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the First Secretary in the Department of External Trade Relations. Notably, he was the diplomatic adviser to President Tarja Halonen and served as Finland's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2009 to 2014. He earned a Master of Arts degree in political science from the University of Turku in 1987.
