Since 2014, he has served as a councilor for the statutory city of Jihlava, holding roles as deputy mayor from 2014 to 2018 and as deputy to the mayor from 2018 to 2019. Additionally, he was a councilor for the Vysočina Region from 2016 to 2020. Kalina is a member of the KDU-ČSL party.
