Jaroslav Halva was a Czech-Slovak javelin thrower and coach born on May 20, 1942, in Modré Kamene, Slovakia. He began athletics at age 15 with Baník Karlovy Vary. Known for becoming the first Czechoslovak javelin thrower to exceed 80 meters in 1970, he later competed for Dukla Banská Bystrica and ended his sports career in 1985. As a coach, he trained prominent athletes, including Jan Železný from 1986 to 1991, and later contributed to the development of several top Czech javelin throwers until his passing on March 11, 2014.
