Jaroslav Kubera was a Czech right-wing politician, born on February 16, 1947, in Louny. He served as the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic from November 2018 until his death in January 2020. Previously, he held positions as Vice President of the Senate and Chairman of the Constitutional Law Committee. Kubera was first elected as Senator for the Teplice district in 2000 and also served as the mayor and later the mayor of the city of Teplice from 1994 to 2018. He was known for his humorous yet controversial statements, and he portrayed Edvard Beneš in the 2017 film Toman.
