Jaroslav Zich (1912-2001) was a prominent Czech composer, educator, and musicologist. He began his music education under his father, Otakar Zich, before studying philosophy and musicology at Charles University. Zich worked at Czechoslovak Radio as a music director and was recognized for his contributions. In 1946, he started teaching at the newly established Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, later becoming a professor. He published notable works on instrumentation and music aesthetics and composed approximately thirty pieces, including a celebrated Rhapsody for cello and orchestra.
