Jaswant Singh was an Indian Army officer and a prominent politician who served as a minister in the Indian Cabinet. He was a founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was one of India's longest-serving parliamentarians, remaining an active member from 1980 to 2014. Singh was also the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) candidate for the Vice Presidency in the 2012 Indian vice presidential election.
