Jay Bryant Haviser, Jr. is an American archaeologist and anthropologist born on November 21, 1955, in Bartow, Florida. He has conducted extensive archaeological fieldwork in St. Martin and Curacao. Haviser earned a BA and MS from Florida State University and obtained a Ph.D. from the Royal University of Leiden in 1987. His dissertation focused on Amerindian cultural geography in Curaçao. He has published internationally on the prehistory of the Caribbean islands and currently directs the St. Maarten Archaeological Center, while previously working as a researcher at Leiden University.
