Jalmar Martin 'Jay' Kerttula was an influential American businessman, farmer, and politician from Alaska, born on April 6, 1928. As a member of the Democratic Party, he became the longest-serving member of the Alaska Legislature, contributing to the House from 1961 to 1963 and 1965 to 1973, and the Senate from 1973 to 1995. He held significant political influence in Alaska until his record was surpassed by Lyman Hoffman in 2019. Kerttula passed away on November 13, 2020.
