Jay W. Mathis is an American politician born on April 24, 1970. He served as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives representing the 45th district. A member of the Republican Party, he won a special election in May 2015, running unopposed to succeed Bennett Malone. Mathis previously attempted to challenge Malone in elections held in 2007 and 2011 but was unsuccessful. Following redistricting, he opted out of seeking reelection in the November 2015 elections.
