Jayanthi Natarajan is an Indian lawyer and politician born on June 7, 1954. She was a member of the Indian National Congress and served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing the state of Tamil Nadu for three terms. From July 2011 to December 2013, she held the position of Minister of Forests and Environment. She resigned from this ministerial post on December 21, 2013, and announced her resignation from the Congress Party on January 30, 2015, citing concerns regarding decisions made under Rahul Gandhi's influence.
