Jayaram Khadka, born on October 5, 1972, in Bansbari, Nepal, is the first Winter Olympic athlete from Nepal. He participated in the 2002 Winter Olympics, competing in cross-country skiing. His best finishes were 70th in the Men's 1.5 km Qualification, 79th in the 10 km pursuit, and 69th in the sprint after transitioning from Alpine skiing. Raised in a Chhetri family, Khadka experienced significant cultural changes when he moved to the UK at age 18, where he trained professionally. He has since become an important figure in Nepali winter sports.
