Jean Ankeney was an American politician, teacher, and public health nurse, born on March 29, 1922, in Fuzhou, China. Raised in Williamstown, Massachusetts, she earned her bachelor's degree from Hiram College and a master's from Case Western Reserve University. Ankeney moved to Vermont in 1975 and was elected to the Vermont State Senate from 1993 to 2002 as a Democrat. She passed away on May 14, 2005, at her home in St. George, Vermont, due to a rare form of lung cancer.
