Jean Castenet was a French sailor who participated as a crew member on the 12-meter JI yachts France II in 1977 and France III in 1980 for the America's Cup. He also crewed the catamaran Jet-Services IV. Tragically, he disappeared at sea at the age of 35 on January 3, 1986, while attempting to set a record for sailing across the North Atlantic.
