Jean-Christophe Gay is a French geographer born in 1962, currently a full professor at Côte d'Azur University. His research spans spatial discontinuities, tourism practices, and territories. He has spent over ten years studying tropical islands, particularly in overseas France, and has held positions at ORSTOM, the University of Reunion Island, and IRD. He coordinated the Atlas of New Caledonia and was involved with the MIT research team on mobilities and territories. Since 2021, he serves as scientific director of the Institut du tourisme Côte d'Azur and participates in the Overseas Chair at Sciences Po Paris.
