He was a former resident of the IFAPO (Institut français d'archéologie du Proche-Orient) and a research director at CNRS, specializing in ancient Near Eastern studies. He was the brother of Jean-Claude Forest, the creator of Barbarella. His contributions to archaeology and research have been deemed considerable in the scientific community.
