Jean-Luc Van Den Heede, also known as JVDH or VDH, is a French sailor and speaker born on June 8, 1945, in Amiens. He is renowned for his achievements in sailing, having completed six solo circumnavigations and setting a record for the fastest east-west circumnavigation. In January 2019, he won the 2018 Golden Globe Race, completing a non-stop solo circumnavigation at age 73, making him the oldest person to achieve this feat. He started sailing at 17 and became a full-time sailor in 1989, also publishing several books and being part of the rock group Globalement Vôtre.
