Jean-Marc Dalpé, born on February 21, 1957, is a prominent Canadian playwright and poet recognized for his significant contributions to Franco-Ontarian literature. He graduated from the University of Ottawa and obtained a diploma from the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Québec. Co-founding Ottawa's Théâtre de la Vieille 17, he wrote many works associated with Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario. Dalpé is a three-time Governor General's Award winner and has held various prestigious roles, including writer in residence. In 2021, he renounced an honorary doctorate in protest of university program cuts.
