He is a medical doctor and former provincial deputy for Brabant Walloon. Deserf held various local political positions, including municipal councilor and mayor of Bevekom. He was elected as a provincial council member and became deputy for tourism, sports, and agriculture. Although he stepped down from the deputy role in 2012, he continues to serve in the provincial council. He is also active in local organizations and has a daughter involved in politics.
