Albertha Jeanne Carroll (January 15, 1931 – August 9, 2011) was an American blues and jazz singer from Ruleville, Mississippi. She established herself in the jazz and blues scene after moving to Chicago, performing with prominent orchestras, including Count Basie and Duke Ellington. Carroll toured to entertain U.S. troops and later performed extensively in Europe. She recorded several albums and was recognized as the Singer Of The Century by the Chicago Tribune. Carroll passed away due to a heart attack shortly after a performance in Belgium.
