Jeevak Mahmud Parpia is an Indian-born American physicist, born on July 22, 1952, in Bombay, India. He completed his Bachelor's degree in 1973 at the Illinois Institute of Technology, followed by a Master's degree in 1977 and a Ph.D. in Physics in 1979 at Cornell University. Parpia has held various academic positions at Texas A&M University and Cornell University, where he became a professor in 1994. He won the Fritz London Memorial Prize in 2017 for his research on superfluid helium-3 and is involved in nanomechanics and studying the properties of materials at low temperatures.
