Jef Nys was a Belgian comic artist and author born on January 30, 1927, in Berchem, Belgium. He became famous for his comic series 'Jommeke,' originally marketed as 'Peter und Alexander' in German-speaking regions. Nys studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and worked as a cartoonist from 1946 to 1954. He published his first 'Jommeke' adventure in 1955 and produced over 270 albums with various assistants. Nys was honored with the Golden Adhemar for his lifetime achievements at a comic festival in 2005.
