Jef Raskin (March 9, 1943 – February 26, 2005) was an American human-computer interface designer, known for his work on the graphical user interface of the Apple Macintosh computers. He joined Apple in January 1978 and initiated the Macintosh project in 1979. Raskin introduced the concept of drag-and-drop, allowing users to manipulate files by clicking and dragging icons. He left Apple in 1982 and later designed the Canon Cat, a small computer with a text interface. His book, The Humane Interface, published in 2000, is considered a seminal work in interface design.
