Jeffrey Howard Archer, born on April 15, 1940, is an English novelist and former politician who was convicted for perjury. He served as a Member of Parliament from 1969 to 1974 before transitioning to writing, achieving immense success as a best-selling author with around 330 million copies sold. Archer was Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party from 1985 to 1986 but resigned amid a scandal involving a prostitution allegation. He later became a life peer in 1992, but his political career ended with a conviction in 2001 for perjury, leading to his imprisonment until 2003.
