Jens Christian Søndergård, born February 4, 1945, in Copenhagen, is a Danish saxophonist primarily known for his work with the alto saxophone. He was part of Leonardo Pedersen's Jazzkapel from 1967 to 1978 and later performed with Swingstyrke 7 and Etta Cameron Group. Since 1981, he has led his own quartet and collaborated with notable musicians like Lee Konitz and Benny Golson. He formed Art of Pepper in 2007 and released a live album. In 2009, he recorded a duo album with Kenny Werner, which won the year's Danish Jazz Record award.
