Jens Jørgen Therkelsen was a Danish politician who served as the mayor of Tjele Municipality from 1985 to 1994, representing the Venstre party. Born on January 3, 1931, in Guldager, he became involved in local politics after buying a farm in Sjørring in 1956. He was elected to the municipal council in 1974 and led the culture committee for 11 years. Therkelsen chose not to run for re-election in 1993 to focus on his farming career. He passed away on March 24, 2011, after a long illness.
