Jens E. Olesen, born in 1950 in Casablanca, is a Danish historian and a professor of Nordic history at the University of Greifswald in Germany. He completed his secondary education at Viby Amtsgymnasium in June 1970 and later studied at Aarhus University. Before joining Greifswald in 1996, he served as the rector of the Danish Folk University in Odense. Olesen has been a member of various academies, including the Royal Danish Society for the History of the Fatherland, and has published works on Nordic history.
