Jens Petter Bye was a Norwegian industrial builder known for his significant contributions to the shipping industry. He completed his ship's master's examination in 1941 and soon after became a skipper. In 1962, he acquired Frengen Slip and Motorverksted AS, subsequently relocating much of the business to Kvithyll in Rissa. The company was renamed Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder in 1972, with a focus on building large supply and Roro ships. The vessel M/S 'Uno' was the first ship launched under his leadership.
