Jesper Hoffmeyer was a Danish biochemist and internationally recognized semiotician, born on February 21, 1942, and died on September 25, 2019. He is most known for introducing the concept of biosemiotics in Denmark alongside Claus Emmeche. Hoffmeyer authored several books, including 'En snegl på vejen' in 1996, and completed his doctorate with the thesis 'Biosemiotik' in 2005. Additionally, he served as a science editor for the newspaper Dagbladet Information for several years and published 'Tro på tvivl – Kritik af religiøs og videnskabelig ufornuft' in 2009.
