Jessica Burgner-Kahrs is a German computer scientist and robotics specialist born on January 7, 1981, in Wuppertal. She completed her computer science studies at the University of Karlsruhe in 2006 and developed the first robotic system for automated laser cutting of bones as part of her dissertation. After earning her Ph.D. in engineering in 2010, she worked at Vanderbilt University and later returned to Germany. Burgner-Kahrs is the Managing Director of the Mechatronics Center in Hannover and has led research on continuum robots for surgical applications, receiving numerous awards for her contributions.
