Jesús Luis Benítez, also known as El Booker or El Búker, was a Mexican writer born in Mexico City on June 1, 1949. He was a significant figure in the narrative and poetry scene, particularly associated with rock music. He is recognized as a founder of the Literature of the Onda movement alongside José Agustín and Parménides García Saldaña. Benítez’s life was marked by excesses, and he passed away prematurely on March 3, 1980. His pseudonym was derived from the name of African American educator Booker T. Washington.
