Jesús Menchén Manzanares, better known by his pseudonym Roger de Flor, was a Spanish poet born on October 27, 1912, in Membrilla. An orphan from a young age, he was raised by his uncle and became a teacher. Menchén was involved in Marxist ideas, published poetry and articles, and joined the Republican army during the Spanish Civil War. His work includes 'Hogueras de paz' and various wartime verses. He was imprisoned and executed in Ciudad Real on October 30, 1939. His poetry is included in major anthologies of Civil War verse.
