James Carl Brau, born on February 6, 1969, is a prominent American economist specializing in initial public offerings, entrepreneurial finance, and real estate. He serves as the Joel C. Peterson Professor of Finance at the Marriott School of Management, Brigham Young University. A 1991 graduate of the United States Military Academy, Brau earned his PhD in finance from Florida State University. He has been with BYU since 1999 and has risen to full professorship. Additionally, he holds editorial duties for The Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance and is active in weightlifting and bodybuilding.
