Jim Fletcher was an American comic artist and animator born on January 9, 1930, in Illinois. He began his career in 1954 after moving to California, working as an inbetweener and assistant animator at Disney. His first comic work appeared in 1960 with an adaptation of '101 Dalmatians.' He created comic stories for Disney and Hanna-Barbera characters until 1965. Although well-received in Italy, he remained relatively unknown in the US. He invented Melody, Minnie Mouse's niece, and continued working with Disney and Marvel until his retirement in 2000. He passed away on December 14, 2004, in Los Angeles.
