Fordham later played professionally for the Chicago Bears in the NFL from 1944 to 1945, ranking among the league leaders in rushing yards. After his football career, he worked in Venezuela and Mexico, operating a tobacco business. He passed away from a heart attack in Monterrey on April 15, 1969.
