James John Buchanan French was a Scottish footballer born on December 31, 1907. He played as an inside forward and made 22 appearances in the Football League during the 1930s for teams like Gillingham and Clapton Orient. Notably, he scored seven goals in a single match for Tunbridge Wells Rangers in 1932. He returned to league football with Clapton Orient for the 1933–1934 season and later played for Ashford in the Kent League before moving to Folkestone in late 1937.
