James Poston, CBE, was a British diplomat, born on 19 June 1945 in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He served as the Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 2002 to 2005. A graduate of Exeter University, he joined the Foreign Office in 1970 and held various posts, including British consul general to New England from 1995 to 1999. He was involved in promoting relations between the UK and the US, particularly with the Irish-American community. Poston passed away on 13 October 2007, survived by his wife and three children.
